At Bloomday, one of the pillars of the Bloomday Difference is transparency – not just on pricing, but on our entire process. As granite and marble retailers, our mission is to bring incredible stone surfaces to your home, one slab at a time. However, before we can install countertops in your kitchen, bathroom, or outdoor space, we take all our customers through our countertop selection and template process. We realize it takes time to find the perfect design, layout, and countertop edging for your space, so we want to make sure you fully understand our process before we begin your project.

To give you a closer look at the countertop selection and installation process, we’d like to explain the Bloomday approach from start to finish. Our team’s priority is to guide you through the countertop installation process, so you feel confident in your decisions from day one. With Bloomday Granite and Marble by your side, we’ll take you from countertop consultation, all the way to installation.

1. Countertop Consultation

The first step in our process is your countertop consultation. We currently offer two different consultation options: you can schedule an in-person consultation or virtual consultation with one of our sales associates. You can conveniently select a time to either come into our showroom or have a virtual chat with one of our sales associates.

During your consultation, we ask that you have a few items that will allow our team to better serve you during your consultation.

  • Include your cabinet plans or a hand-drawn sketch of your current project, so we can see exactly what we’re going to be working with. It’s also important to include approximate measurements for your project. Don’t know how to measure? No worries – we have a few quick tips for measuring countertops.
  • Once we’ve assessed your space, our sales associates can provide the “all-in” price for your project so you don’t have to worry about any pricing surprises. By having your measurements early, we can start budgeting out a fair assessment of your project’s price point. To get a better idea of what to expect, view our granite and marble countertop pricing page for more information.
  • If you have any design ideas, we ask that you bring them, so we can help you find the best countertop selection possible. We have samples of granite, marble, quartz, porcelain, and even Dekton!

If you’re local to the Piedmont Triad, there’s no better time to schedule your countertop consultation! We install granite countertops, marble countertops, as well as quartz countertops, and other low maintenance stone countertop materials.

2. Countertop Selection

The next step, and perhaps the most exciting one, is countertop selection! This is the time when you get to pick the perfect countertop material for your space. Whether that means a low maintenance stone countertop material or a highly durable countertop, we can guide you in the right direction based on your preferences and show you a variety of stone countertop options.

During your countertop selection, it’s important to note that when you visit our showroom floor, we only hold a limited amount of our expansive inventory. If you’d like to see more of our natural stone countertop materials, we encourage you to visit our local suppliers to learn more about the process while you’re picking your perfect countertop material! A few items to note, prior to your selection:

  • Our quartz is generally ordered by samples from the manufacturer, so once we place your order, you’re one step closer to seeing your countertop selection. On arrival, Bloomday Granite will call you to come view and approve your material. Once you’ve approved, we can move forward with your project.
  • When selecting granite, you can either approve your slabs before template or visit our suppliers directly to handpick your slabs in advance. If this material is placed on hold more than 2 weeks before the template, you may be asked to pay a deposit to continue to hold the material.

After the approval of your material, our team will be able to move forward with the next phase in our process: scheduling your template.

3. Countertop Template

The template is perhaps one of the most important steps of our process, after you’ve selected the type of countertop material and edges you want! This step is when our countertop installation experts will enter your home and measure your countertops with our laser template system, so we can have the most accurate measurements possible!

During this process, our technicians will also inspect your cabinets to see if they are completely level. It’s imperative that your cabinets be level prior to installation, or countertops could potentially shift over time causing seams to separate. However, if our team notices something out of place, we will work with you to find the perfect solution. This is also the time we can discuss other items such as backsplashes, bartops, and countertop overhangs that you’d like in your kitchen.

In order to get an accurate template, we ask that your countertops be cleared of any objects, appliances, or decor. This is how we can account for every nook and cranny of your counters!

After taking your countertop template, we will process it using our CAD software. Once everything is processed and approved, we can officially begin fabrication and schedule your installation date.

Once the template is completed, and prior to installation, one of our associates can help you schedule tear down and leveling of your old countertops and cabinets. If you have a project coordinator or remodeler on-site, this is probably included in their services.

4. Countertop Installation

Within one or two weeks of your template, our team will return to install your countertops! Prior to installation, if you have remodeled your entire kitchen or bathroom, all cabinets must be already installed and leveled. We also ask that either you or your project manager be present during installation and that all direct pathways to your space be free from furniture or obstacles.

Our projects take a minimum of 2-3 hours to complete, so we please ask for your patience during this time. Because we use so many products like epoxy and countertop adhesives, it takes time to install your countertops, and we will likely need to keep windows open during installation to remove any strong fumes.

If there happens to be an issue the day of installation, our team will take your slab to our shop for adjustments, and come back as soon as possible to complete your project. We pride ourselves on superior service, and our team will do everything possible to remedy the issue and complete your installation.

After your countertops are installed, we will give you a certificate of completion to sign, and then all that’s left is to enjoy your brand new countertops!
